BELLEVILLE – There were three collisions in neighbouring counties Tuesday, including one in Hastings County that involved a tractor-trailer that went into a ditch on Stirling-Marmora Road.
The first collision, which took place in the eastbound lane of Highway 401 just before 7 a.m., closed the the Wooler Road exit. It was compounded later the same morning as another collision in Northumberland County closed down the Percy Street exit at the Big Apple just before 11 a.m. in Colborne.
Eastbound lanes between Wooler Road and County Road 30 were closed until early Tuesday afternoon following the pair of morning collisions.
Traffic was reportedly backed-up in this area, however slowly cleared up.
The driver from the first collision suffered minor injuries and was taken to hospital by emergency responders.
Later on Tuesday, another collision happened north of the village of Stirling, between Mount Pleasant and Kings Mill roads. It was a single vehicle collision that caused a tractor-trailer to go into a ditch and blocked off part of the road.
There was concern that the tractor-trailer was carrying chemical materials and the Ontario Ministry of the Environment was called to the scene, according to the Central Hastings OPP. Upon further investigation it was found that it was non-hazardous materials.
The road was closed to one lane until the area was fully cleared.
No one was injured and the 48-year-old Brampton man has been charged with careless driving.
