Cobourg man charged with domestic assault

BELLEVILLE – A 24-year-old man from Cobourg turned himself over to Belleville police and was charged with domestic assault on Tuesday.

The charges come from an incident Monday afternoon, where police received a call about an erratic driver on Latta Drive near Highway 37. The driver pulled the car over and a female passenger got out. She was picked up by another driver, who police say is a witness. Police later confirmed there were no injuries from the alleged assault inside the car.

The man has been charged with domestic assault, dangerous driving, and a breach of probation.

He was later released on the promise that he will attend a court date in November. The names of those involved have been withheld to protect the identity of the victim.
