BELLEVILLE – A 17-year-old was caught driving double the speed limit in Belleville Monday afternoon, according to police.

The Traffic Safety Unit stopped the driver at 2:51 p.m. on Casey Road after he was found driving 120 km/h in a 60 km/h zone.

He was then charged with stunt driving and driving while suspended, police say.

His driver’s licence was confiscated and vehicle impounded for seven days.

If convicted, he could face a fine anywhere from $2, 000 to $10, 000.

He was released from custody on a summons to appear in court at a later date.
