BELLEVILLE – Four cars collided on North Front Street Tuesday evening, Belleville police say.

Three cars were stopped in the southbound lanes south of Tracey Street when a car slammed into the rear of the one of them at about 7:17 p.m., police say. This caused a chain-reaction collision with the next two stopped cars.

Paramedics treated several people at the scene, and a fire truck was also there. Two of the cars were towed.

A 29-year-old man was charged with careless driving.
