  • January 9, 2019 at 3:53 pm

By Mike Fleming

BELLEVILLE – The Canadian Forces Base Trenton Pond Hockey Classic is returning to Quinte West in February.

Up to 40 teams will compete in a four-on-four round-robin-style tournament. The teams will be divided into competitive and non-competitive divisions. Canadian pond hockey rules will apply.

The annual tournament, now in its eighth year, will take place at the Batawa Community Centre Saturday, Feb. 2, and Sunday, Feb. 3. A fundraising dinner will be held at the community centre on Friday, Feb. 1, and will include live music and celebrity guests.

The tournament will once again be affiliated with CFB Trenton, as well as the Trenton Memorial Hospital Foundation and Wounded Warriors of Canada. All proceeds from the tournament and dinner will go to the hospital foundation and Wounded Warriors.

Registration for the event costs $440, though teams can get a partial refund of $120 if they agree to help officiate games. Tickets for the dinner cost $100.
