BELLEVILLE – In the midst of an odd winter season with very little snow, several local businesses are suffering.
Dave Chatterton, owner of Fish Finder Charters [2] in Carrying Place, a company that rents ice-fishing huts, told QNet News he’s lost three weeks’ worth of business to the weather.
Bayside Outfitters Ice Hut Rentals [3] in Quinte West is not renting out huts for ice fishing at all because of the weather conditions, says owner Shawn Patel. Several other ice-hut rental places in the Trenton and Belleville area – including Bay of Quinte Ice Hut Rentals, No-Chills Ice Fishing Inc. and Frank’s 1 Stop Fishin’ Shop – have gone out of business.
OPP warn the public to always check the ice levels before going out onto any frozen water and to plan ahead.
