Belleville council votes yes on permanent night buses

  • January 15, 2019 at 11:43 am

By Thomas Goyer

BELLEVILLE – City council voted Monday to remove the “pilot” title on the Route 11 night bus route, making it a permanent service.

Route 11 buses are seeing 4,000 rides a month and are nearing capacity, Paul Buck, the city’s manager of transit operations, told councillors.

The service allows people to call the bus for pickup and delivery anywhere in the city.

Council also agreed to give $220,000 for the operation of the night service in 2019.

More to come.
