By Syerra Turry

BELLEVILLE – Belleville families and police officers braved the cold last Saturday to ice fish.

The third annual Cops and Kids ice fishing derby ran through the morning on the Bay of Quinte off the Herchimer boat launch.

The event was hosted by the Belleville Police Services and Belleville Police Association.

“It’s just a way for cops and kids to form friendship through fishing,” said Belleville training officer Patrick Comeau.

The day was free for all kids aged 12 and under.

The first 100 kids also received a free toque.
