Driver and passenger charged for bail violations

BELLEVILLE –A 41-year-old man from Belleville and a 32-year-old woman from Madoc have been charged for bail violations on Wednesday.

The Central Hastings OPP detachment stopped a motor vehicle in the village of Centre Hastings on Wednesday morning

According to police, an officer saw a man known to have a suspended licence driving the vehicle. 

The driver also has outstanding charges before the court and was on specific bail orders that were breached and led to the arrest.

When the officer stopped the vehicle, a female passenger got out and ran from the scene.

The officer also knew that she has outstanding charges before the court and was one of her bail conditions was to stay away from the male driver. 

As a result of the investigation , the Belleville man faces several new charges including failing to comply with recognizance and driving while under suspension.

He is scheduled to appear for a bail hearing in Belleville court on Jan. 24.

The Madoc woman who was later located at her residence and is also charged with failing to comply with recognizance. She too will appear in court for a bail hearing on Jan. 24.
