Some students and staff at Loyalist College were shocked Thursday morning when they started to find racist messages posted on bulletin boards around the college.

The messages appeared on business cards and promoted a white supremacist website. Five of were found and removed as of Thursday afternoon.

Paul Papadopoulos, a professor in the TVNM program at the college, said he found one of the cards Thursday morning.

Papadopoulos said he was shocked and disappointed when he saw the card.

“To find it in the place of my work, as well as a learning environment is disappointing,” Papadopoulos said. “Everyone should be offended by this.”

Dianne Spencer, executive director of college advancement and external communications at Loyalist College said this particular case would be dealt with immediately.

“I can assure you that the material will be removed from any bulletin boards where it has appeared,” Spencer said.

She said bulletin boards at the school are monitored regularly to prevent cases like this from occurring and added that racism will not be accepted.

“Anything that appears to be of a racist nature is absolutely not condoned,” Spencer said.
