Belleville man charged with impaired driving

BELLEVILLE –  A 25-year-old Belleville man faces charges after police say he was found highly intoxicated behind the wheel on Saturday night.

Belleville Police responded to a report at 9:30 p.m. Saturday in the Shamrock Road area about a possible impaired driver, they reported Monday. They stopped a vehicle and found the driver heavily intoxicated, they said.  The man was charged wirh impaired driving and driving with more than the legal limit of alcohol in his bloodstream.

He was taken to the police station and subsequently released on a promise to appear in court later this month.
