Garage fire causes $75,000 in damages
BELLEVILLE – A detached garage on Bethel Road burned to the ground on Monday night causing $75,000 in damages, Belleville Fire Department says.
Close to 20 firefighters from Belleville Fire stations three, four and five were dispatched to the fire. When firefighters arrived, they found the detached garage was engulfed completely in flame. Tyendinega Fire Department also responded and provided water tanker support. The fire was under control in 30 minutes, but the garage itself and all it’s contents were completely destroyed.
The family home on the property did not suffer any damage, and nobody was hurt in the fire.
The fire department says that the origin of the fire was found to be electrical failure at two points on the north side of the garage. They have declared the fire accidental.
