BELLEVILLE – A 38-year-old Belleville man was charged with second-degree murder early Wednesday morning after a woman was found dead.

The 54-year-old Belleville woman’s body was found after emergency services went to an address on Cannifton Road, police say.

The accused, who was arrested in the city’s west end, is being held for a bail hearing later today.

Anyone with information is asked to contact lead investigators Det. Mark Abrams or Det. Darrell Hatfield at 613-966-0882 ext. 2322 and 2315.

Police say there is no risk of a public safety.
