BELLEVILLE – The Loyalist Lancers’ women’s basketball team start its season with with two wins on home turf.

On Friday, the Lancers dominated the Georgian Grizzlies with a final score of 80 to 49.

Loyalist hit the ground running and finished the first quarter leading 29 to 6. Despite the Grizzlies gaining momentum in the second half, the Lancers maintained this lead to finish 31 points ahead.

On Saturday, Loyalist faced a tougher matchup against the Centennial Colts but still came out on top with a score of 78 to 73.

Both teams were neck and neck for most of the game, but a strong second quarter solidified the Lancers’ victory.

Third year Lancer Brittany Mason led the team in points for both victories. She finished the first game with 19 points and the second with 36, a career high for Mason.

The Lancers will appear next in Toronto after a few days of rest in hopes of extending their streak to take on the Seneca Sting on Friday.
