Environment Canada has bad news for trick-or-treaters

  • October 30, 2019 at 12:24 pm

By Graham Whittaker

BELLEVILLE – Heavy rain could make Halloween very soggy for trick-or-treaters Thursday evening.

In a special weather statement, Environment Canada warns that a southwestern low pressure system is heading for southern Ontario, including the Belleville area and Northumberland County. The system has the potential to produce 30 to 50 millimetres of rain and wind gusts up to 70 kilometres an hour starting Wednesday afternoon and continuing through to Friday.

Rainfall is supposed to peak Thursday evening – so if you have plans to trick or treat, you’d better bring a jacket or umbrella.
