BELLEVILLE – The Belleville Senators extend their win streak to three games on Wednesday with a hard-fought 5-4 overtime win over the Laval Rocket on the road.

The Sens came off to a slow start, with goaltender Marcus Hogberg giving up two goals early in the first period to Rocket forwards Justin Lynch and Charles Hudon.

Belleville responded early in the second, however, with forwards Max Veronneau and Josh Norris evening up the score within the first two minutes of the period.

Heading into the third – tied two goals apiece – both teams found themselves trading off goals every few minutes with Belleville seeing points from Vitaly Abramov and Drake Batherson. Laval centre Charles Hudon picked up two more goals to earn him a hat trick on the day.  The ended the period tied and headed into overtime.

The Sens appeared to have no interest in overtime it would seem – Belleville’s Alex Formenton came out strong and scored the winning goal just 33 seconds into the 3-on-3 period.

Despite this close win, the Sens were outshot 37-25 and served 18 penalty minutes compared to Laval’s 10.

The Belleville Senators return home Friday night to face off against the Bridgeport Sound Tigers and the Milwaukee Admirals on Saturday night.
