BELLEVILLE – A 54-year-old woman from Trent Hills died in a vehicle collision near Warkworth on Sunday.

The crash happened about 1 p.m. just west of the village, Northumberland OPP reported Monday. Kathleen Hodge of Trent Hills was killed when the orange four-door sedan she was driving collided with a black pickup truck at the intersection of Northumberland County Road 29 and Concession Road 2.

The driver of the pickup suffered minor injuries and was later released from the hospital.

The OPP say their preliminary investigation indicates that the truck was travelling south on County Road 29 and making a right-hand turn to go west on Concession Road 2, while the sedan driven by Hodge was eastbound on Concession Road 2 West heading toward County Road 29. The two vehicles collided head-on just past the intersection, the police said.

Concession Road 2 between County Road 29 and Hutchinson Court was closed for several hours while investigators did their work.

The investigation continues, police said.
