Lancers basketball teams struggle against George Brown

BELLEVILLE – After a strong start to the season, the Lancers women’s basketball team lost their fourth straight game on Saturday.

A slow start was too much to overcome as the Lancers lost 65-43 agains the George Brown Huskies. The Lancers struggled on offence shooting 13 for 53 from the field and 1 for 15 from the three-point line.

Lancers guard Brittany Mason led the team with 15 points and eight rebounds. She is the teams leading scorer this season averaging 16.7 points per game.

The team currently sits fifth in the OCAA eastern standings with three wins and four losses.

They play their final game of the semester on Saturday against U of T Mississauga Eagles on the road. Tipoff is at 1 p.m.

Meanwhile, the men’s Lancers saw their four-game win streak come to an end on Saturday against the George Brown Huskies.

The team had a tough time shooting from the three-point line making only four of their 22 attempts.

The team also struggled from the free-throw line making only seven of their 19 free throw attempts.

In the fourth quarter, the Huskies pulled away outscoring the Lancers 25-12. The Lancers’ offensive struggles came to a head shooting a 33 field goal percentage and were one for six from the free-throw line.

Jeremiah Brown scored a team-high 18 points during the game. He’s the teams leading scorer averaging 16.6 per game.

The Lacers will look to bounce back on their final game of the semester when they play U of T Mississauga Eagles on Saturday on the road. Tipoff is at 3 p.m.
