Heating problem at Loyalist building not a big deal, says students

BELLEVILLE – The loss of one of the two boilers that heat Loyalist College is having little effect on students.

A small group of students in the Film and Television Production Program did not notice much difference as officials worked to repair the damaged boiler.

Loyalist College was feeling the cold Monday morning after difficulties with one of its boilers.

An email was sent to faculty informing them that one of the boilers that provide heat to the Kente building was facing difficulties. The email says with the extremely cold conditions outside and only one boiler fully functional, the system was unable to keep inside temperature at normal levels.

“It’s very cold in the media wing. They should fix it – stat,” said Allan Hicks a student in the Film and Television Production program.

Two other students in the same program both said they haven’t noticed much of a change in temperature, but added they have been wearing their jackets since they arrived at school.

The college is currently working on fixing the boiler to bring temperatures back to normal in the Kente building.
