Loyalist College to mark national Bell Let’s Talk Day on campus

  • January 27, 2020 at 2:19 pm

By Ryan Peddigrew

BELLEVILLE – Loyalist College is putting on a number of events throughout the day Wednesday to mark Bell Lets Talk Day and to raise awareness for mental health.

In the morning there will be people to greet anyone coming in the front doors of the Kente building with coffee and cookies.

At noon Loyalist College alumnus Emilie Leneveu will be talking about mental health in the school’s Shark Tank Pub for Jack.org, an organization designed at training and helping youth to enact positive change for mental health. At the same time in the Link Lounge, there will be therapy dogs.

Bell Let’s Talk Day is an initiative by Bell Canada to open the conversation and raise awareness the mental health struggles people face every day. Bell Let’s Talk Day started in 2011 and happens every year in the last week of January. For each text message and phone call made by Bell mobile customers on Bell Let’s Talk Day, five cents will be donated to Canadian mental health initiatives. The same donation standard applies to the numbers of views on their official Facebook and Instagram videos, any Snapchats sent using their official Snapchat filter, and any Tweets posted with the hashtag “#BellLetsTalk”.
