BELLEVILLE – The warming centre [2] at Victoria Avenue Baptist Church in downtown Belleville will open Thursday night due to a forecast of very cold temperatures.

Overnight between Thursday and Friday the temperature is expected to drop to -28 C.

The warming centre is for anyone looking to come in from the cold and high winds.

The centre will be open from 8 p.m. Thursday to 8 a.m. Friday.

Victoria Avenue Baptist Church is at the corner of Victoria Avenue and Pinnacle Street, with entry to the centre at the Pinnacle Street door. Beds and meals are not provided.

A press release sent out by the city of Belleville late Wednesday afternoon says the city will continue to monitor the conditions throughout the weekend.
