BELLEVILLE – The Trenton Golden Hawks are rolling in the first round of the 2020 Ontario Junior Hockey League Buckland Cup playoffs.
The Golden Hawks extended their first round series lead over the Whitby Fury on Sunday afternoon with a 4-1 win on the road.
The G-Hawks now lead the best-of-seven series 2-0.

On Friday night at the Hangar in Trenton, the Hawks fired 77 shots on Fury goaltender Connor MacKenzie, who nearly stole the show with 72 saves to force overtime in Trenton’s 5-4 win.
On Sunday the Golden Hawks didn’t wait around, jumping out to an early 3-0 lead in the first period.
Tyler Nielsen, Dalton Bancroft, and Colin Van Den Hurk all scored their first goals of the postseason in the period.
Whitby responded with a second period goal, but it wasn’t enough to force a comeback.
The red-hot Andrew Suriyuth, who scored the Hawks overtime winner on Friday night, added his third goal of the playoffs in the third period to secure the victory.
Anand Oberoi was solid in goal once again for Trenton making 33 saves on 34 shots.
Trenton and Whitby will have Monday off before the series shifts back to Trenton for game three on Tuesday night at the Duncan McDonald Memorial Community Gardens [9] at 7:30 p.m.
