Belleville man arrested for allegedly making death threats and breach of probation

A 45-year-old man from Belleville was taken into custody after he allegedly threatened a person in the downtown area, Monday afternoon.

He was allegedly hitting trees with a golf club and when the police arrived on the scene at 3:19 p.m., the caller said the man had allegedly threatened to kill him.

The man was known to the police.  He was also charged with breaking two of his probation conditions,  police said in a report.

He is being held in custody for a bail hearing on Tuesday.
