BELLEVILLE – Belleville councillor Pat Culhane and her legacy will continue to live on through a new initiative from Quinte Humane Society.

The Pat Culhane Legacy Circle feature plaques on their wall of the society honouring people who left donations for the organization after they passed away.

And Marilyn Lawrie, the executive director of the QHS, says that commemorating Culhane through a Legacy Circle is the perfect way to remember her.

“It was just so fitting.” Lawrie said. “This is what we must do.”

And for Culhane specifically, naming the legacy program makes sure she lives on at the QHS.

Culhane was an active member with the Quinte Humane Society, having sat on the board for 6 years.

“Pat was a committed force and a lover of animals.” Lawrie said, before adding that they had noticed her absence at the board meeting last week.

“It was just so odd not to see her at the table.”

Going forward, Lawrie says that people looking to have their names featured in the Pat Culhane Legacy Circle can make a donation to the QHS in their will.

“We will certainty miss Pat, but her name will live on at the Quinte Humane Society.”
