Body found in Brighton house fire

BELLEVILLE – Police say a body was found at the scene of a house fire in Brighton on Friday.

The fire was reported around 3:30 a.m. Friday morning. By the time local fire crews arrived, the residence on Old Wooler Road was fully engulfed in flames. The Brighton fire department was assisted by the Cramahe Township and Trent Hills fire departments.

After they extinguished the blaze, investigators found the remains of the victim. The identity of the victim is still unknown.

The scene is being held by the Ontario Provincial Police, who are investigating the circumstances of the fire.
