Belleville suspect in custody after jewelry robbery sparks high-speed chase

BELLEVILLE – A 48-year old Belleville man faces a long list of charges including robbery, dangerous driving and flight from police.

Police say he is the primary suspect in a robbery reported at 10:45 a.m. Saturday. A man entered a business on Dundas Street E., in Belleville, assaulted a store employee and stole jewelry before fleeing the scene in a dark coloured Chevrolet sedan.

The suspect fled Belleville going westbound on Highway 401 before his arrest in Clarington, ON on Highway 35/115. 

Injuries in the robbery in Belleville were reported as minor.
