Fundraisers update employee campaign for Loyalist

  • May 22, 2012 at 3:21 pm

By Jack Carver

The employee fundraising program raised $18,000 for the college’s Sustainable Skills, Technology and Life Sciences Centre over the past three weeks, said the campaign manager today.

Hazel Lloyst said the initiative is working as the college hopes to involve faculty and staff in contributing to a major drive to collect $6 million towards the completion of the centre, which opened last fall. A public campaign is expected to launch on June 5.

The goal is to raise $5 million for equipment and $1 million for endowment and awards in support of student financial assistance.

“In a capital campaign you always start from the inside and go out, so those closest to you,” she said. “Our employees are considered part of the Loyalist College family, so we start with them before moving out.”

The campaign held a barbeque earlier this month and is currently running various activities to encourage participants. Lloyst said organizers are doing their best to generated excitement amongst employees.

The employee campaign will end on May 31.
