A two-story garage at 2315 York Road in the Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory was destroyed by fire. Firefighters from Deseronto, Mohawk and Tyendinaga Fire Departments were called to the scene at 9:10 a.m , Tuesday.
Chief Scott Maracle of the Tyendinaga Fire Department estimated the damage at $300,000 with contents.
Jasmine and Andy Maracle were renting the space for storage of several vehicles including a 1962 Chevy Short Box and 1970 Oldsmobile.
“This brings back horrible memories for us,” said Jasmine Maracle. “Less then two years ago our house burned to the ground.”
The garage was vacant at the time of the fire and no one was injured.
The cause is yet to be determined.
