Kingston Police have charged a high school teacher with sexual assault.

Thirty-five year-old David Jarrell, teacher and coach at Holy Cross Catholic Secondary School, was arrested Thursday and taken to Provincial Courts for a bail hearing.

Jarrell is charged with one count of sexual exploitation by police, after an extensive investigation beginning in fall 2012.  A case involves a former student of Jarrell’s.

Jarrell was released on a recognizance with numerous conditions and a future court date.

Kingston Police are still investigating and canvassing the community for information. The Sexual Crime Unit is asking for any witnesses to contact Detective Sergeant Sean Bambrick at 613-549-4660 ext 6171 or via email at sbambrick@kpf.ca.

Anonymous tips can be made to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS) or on the website at www.tipsubmit.com.  Tipsters are eligible for a cash reward of up to $2,000.
