Police are investigating a case of job fraud in Quinte West.

A Trenton woman responded to an advertisement for an executive assistant position and was told she was hired, police said.

She was then sent a cheque for $10,000, told to cash it, keep $1,000 for herself, and then await instructions on how to return the other $9,000.

Quinte West OPP want to remind the public that if it sounds too good to be true it probably is.
