Belleville bus drivers reject proposed contract

  • October 2, 2013 at 8:35 am

By Shelby Wye

Belleville’s bus drivers rejected the city’s final offer on their collective agreement.

The transit operator members of CAW Local 1839 decided under a supervised vote, facilitated by the Ontario Labour Board, on Oct 1.

The City of Belleville has met with the CAW representatives in May, over the new collective agreement, but they reached no conclusion.

A conciliator was requested, and met with both sides on Sept 19. Progress was made, but the CAW still did not accept the final offer.

Updates to follow.
