Construction work on bridge is routine maintenance, city says

BELLEVILLE – There’s no need to worry about the construction on the relatively new Veterans Memorial Bridge.

The city of Belleville says the construction is only routine maintenance. All that needs to be done is filling the cracks that occur from everyday wear and tear so water will not get into them and cause problems.

The original contractor has been working on the maintenance job for approximately a week and a half, says senior project manager Stan Czyczyro. The bridge is expected to be finished around the end of this week or early next week.

Czyczyro says there will be no lane closures and the work being done should cause no inconvenience to people who travel the bridge regularly.
