About 30 people gathered for a presentation about the Line 9 pipeline in Belleville. At the front of the room is John Lewis, the organizer of the event.

BELLEVILLE – Opponents of the proposed Line 9 oil pipeline held a meeting
Tuesday night to inform Belleville residents about the plan’s potential impact on the
Quinte area.

Around 30 people attended the forum and discussed the possible negative effects
that Line 9 could have on the community.

A main concern is that the 38-year-old pipeline will not be able to withstand an
increased amount of oil and pressure without breaking.

The group has planned for a second meeting on Nov. 18 to write letters to political
figures and voice their concerns.
