BELLEVILLE – Gaunce was invited to represent the Bulls for team OHL when it plays team Russia in the upcoming Subway Super Series. He will be a member of the team for the games which take place Nov. 21 in Oshawa and Nov. 25 in Sudbury.

This is the second year Gaunce has been invited.

“I was in it last year but I couldn’t play because I had a separated shoulder,” he said. “So it’s going to be my first year if I can play in the games and I am excited for it.”

Gaunce says he feels that this could help him with his effort to make the Under 20 World Junior Hockey Championship in December.

“I think it’s just another game of showcasing yourself and playing against different competition, and obviously you’re playing with the guys who might play on the team so it’s a pretty big two games.”

This is the third season that Jordan Subban has been a teammate of Gaunce. Subban says he is proud of the effort and leadership his captain has displayed this season.

“He’s a good guy, he’s obviously our captain and he leads by example and he’s always been positive, so it’s good to see him there.”

Subban and Gaunce have both been drafted by the National Hockey League’s  Vancouver Canucks. Subban said he is excited to play with Gaunce in the future.

” Yeah, it’s great. Obviously when I was drafted there he was one of the first guys I was talking to. He has the experience, and I’ve had the opportunity to play with him for a couple of years, so if we get that opportunity hopefully we can use our chemistry and bring it to Vancouver.”
