Arson suspected in bathroom fire

  • November 15, 2013 at 1:09 pm

By Shelden Rogers

BELLEVILLE – Arson is believed to be the cause of a fire in a public washroom near Pirate Park on Wednesday.

The Belleville Fire Department responded to a call regarding smoke coming from the bathroom. Officials discovered a fire contained in a toilet stall.

Captain Coady MacGillivary of the fire department said arson is suspected because a toilet-paper holder had been burned. The plastic from the holder created thick smoke that stained the floor and walls.

The damage is estimated at $10,000.
