BELLEVILLE – Loyalist College pays respects to one of its own on Tuesday afternoon.
Gordon Wright, 61, who was president of Local 421 of the Ontario Public Service Employees Union representing support staff at Loyalist, died suddenly last week. The college will hold an informal memorial service at the main campus in Club 213 Tuesday from 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. The college is asking anyone with photos of Wright to bring them.
Wright graduated from St. Lawrence College and had worked at Loyalist College for more than 18 years.
Bernie Belanger, the president of OPSEU Local 420 at Loyalist, representing academic staff, worked closely with Wright for 16 years.
“He had a sense of humour that was absolutely unique,” said Belanger.
Wright was also very caring and unselfish when it came to others, he said.
“I’m glad I got to know him. I’m going to miss him.”
