Feed the meter campaign announces results

BELLEVILLE – Mayor Neil Ellis is presenting the money raised from Belleville’s holiday-season Feed the Meter campaign Tuesday morning at City Hall.

A cheque in the amount of $9,855.45 will be given to the Hastings and Prince Edward Learning Foundation, a group that raises money for projects for student success.

Over the Christmas season, people donated to the foundation’s Food for Learning program by dropping donations in parking meters in Belleville, Trenton, Picton, Bancroft and Stirling. Regular parking fees were suspened during that period.

More than $28,600 was raised throughout those communities to help purchase food for local student-nutrition programs. The total is a significant increase from the amount raised last year’s total.
