BELLEVILLE – Hundreds of students swarmed the gymnasium at Loyalist College Thursday for the college’s annual career fair.

A total of 51 companies had displays at the gym between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.

The armed forces and the Belleville Police Service appeared to be the most popular booths.

Other popular displays included Habitat for Humanity, the Ontario Provincial Police, the provincial Ministry of Transportation, and Belleville’s Beclawat Manufacturing, which supplies the railway industry with parts.

Sarah Foster was one of the company representatives who came to help graduating students with their job search. Foster is a receptionist for IdeaHub, a company from Port Hope that helps aspiring entrepreneurs find resources to start their own businesses.

“I’m trying to just give an awareness to students who might be graduating soon and who might be wanting to start their own business,” said Foster. “Even if I don’t get applications handed in, it’s at least the first stepping stone.”

Foster said she likes how many eager students show up.

“I like the atmosphere. I love coming to post-secondary places,” she said. “I love talking to people and seeing what they’re studying.”
