BELLEVILLE – A string of suspicious-persons incidents has Belleville Police urging the public to exercise caution while out and about in the city.

Police are investigating three occasions where women were followed by men driving suspicious vehicles. The incidents took place between March 4 and 11.

The latest one involved a woman who was driving and noticed she was being followed by a man in a newer-model Dodge Caravan.

All residents should be aware of their surroundings while driving and walking on city streets, said Det.-Sgt. Jeremy Ashley.

Under the Highway Traffic Act, it is legal for drivers to call 911 on their phone while behind the wheel, he added.
