BELLEVILLE – As part of the ‘Your Voice; Your Vote’ election project run by QNetNews, one of the first people we spoke with was Reverend David Mundy. Mundy is minister of Bridge Street Church. He spoke powerfully about some of the issues he feels should be addressed in the fall election. Mundy thinks the biggest concern should be “people who are constantly invisible to the broader community”. Mundy refers to the ‘invisible’ people like this:

Mundy isn’t just talking off the top of his head. Bridge Street Church ran a program over the winter called ‘Inn from the Cold’. This six-week program offered free meals to people daily. While that is over now, the church offers another program called ‘Thank God It’s Friday’ through the rest of the year. They hand out frozen meals every Friday afternoon. Mundy says both programs are well-used.

Mundy also asks the question: “How does a community like Belleville become a livable community right across the socio-economic society?” He says this needs to be addressed by candidates this fall.

Mundy says there always has to be an eye for people who are living around the edges of our culture. Mundy also plans to be vocal in opposition to a proposed casino coming to Belleville.
