Belleville winter parking restrictions in effect

  • November 11, 2014 at 2:00 pm

By Katy Burley

BELLEVILLE – It will be harder to find overnight parking in Belleville.

Why? The city’s parking bylaw.

Starting Nov. 1 every year, Belleville’s winter parking by-law comes into effect. Drivers are asked to not park on the sides of roads between 1 a.m. and 6 a.m. so snow plows can safely remove snow from the streets.

Drivers who disobey the bylaw will be given a $20 ticket. A driver risks a $75 fine, as well as the possibility of their car being towed, if they are blocking snow plows when there is a major snow fall.

The City of Belleville is asking residents to be vigilant when choosing a parking spot this winter.
