Feed the Meter raises more than $25,000
BELLEVILLE – (UPDATE) The Christmas Feed the Meter project raised more than $ 25,000 but the funds fell short of the organizers’ $30,000 goal.
Kellie Brace, co-ordinator for Food for Learning, said they are not disappointed with results as the campaign helps Food for Learning program to provide students in Picton, Quinte West and Belleville with school breakfast, lunch and snack programs.
“It is down around $2,500 in total from last year but, certainly, this is additional funds that are going to the program. So, we still make a great impact on the program,” she said in an interview.
According to the press release, Belleville generates $7,386.92 from the meter donations, Picton collected $1,718.92 and Trenton raised $5,922.00.
Brace said preparation are already underway for this year campaign.
“We need to work closely with the municipalities to ensure that we have their support to use the infrastructure, the parking meters. We are in the process of working through the logistics and planing the 2015 Feed the Meter campaign,” she said.
The meeting of the committee will take place this spring.
