Hard morning for Belleville drivers

  • February 3, 2015 at 11:17 am

By Kate Shumakova

BELLEVILLE – There were several accidents reported in the Belleville area Tuesday morning.

The biggest accident occurred on Highway 62 north of the city near Townsend Road. The Central Hastings OPP were still on the scene at 11 a.m.; a spokeswoman for the detachment said she could provide no further details because all officers were on the scene.

Belleville Police Staff Sgt. Thomas Sweet said the city police received two or three reports on accidents in the area, with no injuries.

Sweet said he was unable to provide the exact locations of the accidents. However, there were reports on Twitter about accidents on Dundas Street East near the Bayview Mall, and on Bridge Street East in the area of Dufferin Street.

Sweet said that the main cause of these accidents is probably road conditions and drivers being careless.

“Probably people drive too fast for the road condition,” he said.
