Family disturbance leads to charges

BELLEVILLE – A family dispute led a 20-year old Belleville man facing multiple charges late afternoon Tuesday.

The Belleville Police went to Elgin Street residence in response to an assault complaint. A Belleville resident slapped his brother across the face during an argument. The young man was arrested, the police release reported.

During the investigation, the police discovered the man threatened his mother with a knife the day before.

The man faces multiple charges, including charges of assault, assault with a weapon and two counts of uttering threats.

The name of the suspect was not revealed. He faces a bail hearing on Feb. 11. The police reported no one was injured.
