Ancient Egypt coming to Belleville

  • February 12, 2015 at 3:49 pm

By Michelle Poirier

BELLEVILLE – Glanmore National Historic Site in Belleville will be home to a major exhibition about life in ancient Egypt.

Egypt, Gift of the Nile is a travelling exhibit from the Royal Ontario Museum and will be featured at Glanmore from Friday until April 12.

The exhibition explores the architecture, education, religion, family life and many other aspects of ancient Egypt life.

Melissa Wakeling, education and marketing co-ordinator at Glanmore, said that the museum tries to have an exhibition at least once a year to attract a new audience and generate excitement.

In the Egyptian exhibit, she said, “There are some objects that are several thousand years old.”

There will also be replicas of other artifacts to educate visitors more about ancient Egypt, Wakeling said.

Glamore is at 257 Bridge St. E. and is open Tuesday through Sunday, 1 to 4:30 p.m.
