UPDATED: Woman’s body found in Lake Ontario at Cobourg

BELLEVILLE – Police have confirmed that the death of an elderly woman whose body was found in Lake Ontario at Cobourg yesterday.

The body was found floating in the water close to the shoreline of the harbour on March 17.

The post-mortem examination has been conducted, and there are no concerns for the public’s safety, Detective Constable Amy Sharpe said.

Emergency services were on the scene to provide medical assistance, but the woman was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital.

Police are not releasing the name of the woman at the request of the family.
