Belleville man charged with fraud

BELLEVILLE – A 56-year-old Belleville resident was charged with fraud over $ 5,000.

Belleville Police said it began investigating last month after it getting reports that the man, a local business owner, was using NSF cheques to pay his employees.

The man was also charged with making a false statement in writing. He was released from custody on conditions and will appear in court on April 30.

The police are asking anyone with any information to contact Const. Tim Foster of the Criminal Investigation Branch at (613)-966-0882 ext.2309 or Quinte Crime Stoppers.
