Madoc residents face charges after a domestic-dispute call

By Aynslee Darmon

BELLEVILLE – A 39-year-old Madoc man was arrested and charged with assault with a weapon, careless storage of a firearm, domestic mischief and production of marijuana after Central Hastings OPP responded to a domestic dispute call at a residence south of Madoc last Friday.

Police say the call was made after the man is alleged to have assaulted his common-law spouse with a weapon and damaged some property inside the home.

Police say that the man left the home still having the firearm in his possession. Officers located the vehicle with the man driving around the village of Madoc.

After investigating, officers reported a marijuana-growing operation inside the home. The man was held in custody awaiting a bail hearing.

The 33-year-old spouse was also arrested and charged with production of marijuana. She will appear in court in May.
