Man killed in motorcycle crash
BELLEVILLE – A motorcyclist died on Wednesday after colliding with an SUV on Northumberland County Road 9 north of Cobourg.
The accident happened just before 8 a.m. at the intersection of McKinlay Road and County Road 9, near Gore’s Landing on Rice Lake. The motorcyclist was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries and later died, the Northumberland OPP said. The man’s name has not yet been released. Const. Steve Bates said the name will probably be released tomorrow. The woman who was driving the SUV didn’t have any injuries, Bates said. The motorcyclist did not have a passenger.
County Road 9 had to be closed between County Road 15 and County Road 18 for several hours but was later reopened.
The collision remains under investigation.
