Downtown Belleville construction leads to business woes

  • September 16, 2015 at 8:32 am

By Justin Medve and Callie Jackson

BELLEVILLE – Construction for Build Belleville has been in full swing this summer, leaving many downtown businesses only accessible to foot traffic.

On the project’s website, the co-ordinators say that “every effort is being made to ensure pedestrian, local traffic, delivery and emergency vehicle access is maintained for downtown visitors, residents and businesses.” But as any recent visitor to the downtown area can attest, getting to your favourite business can still be inconvenient.

QNet News plans to interview some business owners to see what kind of effects this is having, as well as someone on the Belleville Downtown Improvement Association to get background information. More to come.
